Music has played a valuable role in ceremonies for hundreds of years. It is a key accompaniment to our most important life events and milestones: weddings, funerals, memorials, naming ceremonies and birthdays to name but a few!

Music has the ability to enrich our lives and our ceremonies. Imagine a wedding or funeral without music?

The atmosphere of romance and joy can be conveyed beautifully by a song or piece of music that has meaning to a couple as they enter their wedding ceremony space. A feeling of unity and welcome is created by music and then at the end of the ceremony pure life affirming joy rings out through the music chosen by the couple as their family and friends share in the celebration of their newly married life together.

The role of music at a funeral is both powerful and emotional. It can bring people together and hold them. During a period of reflection and remembrance music breaks a silence that can be overwhelming to the grieving. It allows a person to just sit and feel and think, without needing to speak or do anything. And of course at the end of the service music has the ability to raise human spirits again and feed emerging feelings of hope and renewal.

Music is an universal language, it has the marvellous ability to unite individuals. Complete strangers bond together as they take to the dance floor sharing in the joy of the moment. As we stand to welcome a couple  we feel excitement and love for the wedding ceremony to begin. Those first few bars of music at a funeral signify that the service will start and we think of the deceased and begin our process of saying goodbye to them.

Your musical choices for your ceremonies will most certainly enhance the whole experience for everyone attending. As a guest, or attendee, just knowing that the music has been chosen specifically increases the emotional response that we feel. It enriches our whole perception of the ceremony and serves to provide us with beautiful and cherished memories that are never forgotten.

As celebrants we want to ensure that your music choices are part of your ceremony. Each piece of music tells a story and has a meaning that is important to you, which makes it important to us. There will always be a way to include music  in your ceremony because your chosen music is fundamental to the unique and personalised ceremony that you want to create.
